The Telangana State Human Rights Commission (TGHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of the recent Chevella bus accident that killed 19 people and left several injured. The incident occurred near Mirzaguda in Chevella mandal, Rangareddy district, last week. The Commission registered the case as HRC No. 7141/2025, under the leadership of Dr. Justice Shameem Akther.
The Commission acted based on a report titled “Rahadari Pai Mruthyu Ghosha” published in Disha Daily. It expressed serious concern over road safety lapses, high-speed driving, highway expansion delays, and official negligence. The Commission stated that such factors often lead to preventable accidents and endanger public lives.
The TGHRC has directed the Transport Department, Home Department, Mines & Geology Department, NHAI, Ranga Reddy District Collector, and TSRTC authorities to submit detailed reports by December 15, 2025, at 11 a.m. These reports must include measures taken after the tragedy and ongoing road safety actions.
The Commission emphasized that responsible officials should be identified and held accountable. It assured that further investigation will ensure justice for the victims and prevent similar incidents in the future.
